Getting to Hotel
The logistics of staying at the Royal Motel, are based around good bus connections. To New York City (Manhattan): This is the main reason people stay here. The NJ Transit Bus #190 and #122/129 stop right outside the motel. The ride goes through the Lincoln Tunnel to Port Authority Bus Terminal (42nd St & 8th Ave) in Manhattan. It normally takes about 20-25 minutes if there is no traffic but during rush hour it can take45+ minutes. The buses run very frequently, seldom more than15-20minutes apart throughout most of the day and into late evening.
From Newark Liberty International (EWR): EWR is a 15-20 minute drive from the property. The most efficient way to reach the motel from EWR is by taxi or Uber/Lyft and will also be much less expensive than a transfer into Manhattan. Yes, public transport! AirTrain to Train to Secaucus Junction then cab but seriously hauling luggage through the transfers isn’t worth the small savings compared to a direct Uber.
Secaucus Junction Train Station: The station is just five to ten minutes by car from the motel. This is one of the major rail hubs through which almost all New Jersey Transit trains pass, either toward the shore or Trenton, and also those bound for Penn Station in New York. The fact that highway traffic and virtually no sidewalks discourage anyone from walking between these two points means a taxi or ride-share will be necessary to cover that very short distance.
By Car: Directly off Route 3 and the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95). If you’re coming from the South or West and want to ditch your car before braving Manhattan, this place works perfectly as a “Park and Ride” spot.
